After a great 2021, I decided to update the flow and technology of my office, Corona Vision Center, with a Zeiss automated lane. A few reasons for this:
1. I wanted to offer patients the best possible experience while at the office to set us apart from other Optometry office’s in the area.
2. The WOW factor! Being able to toggle between autorefractor, refraction, and habitual Rx.
3. A more accurate integration between exam and EHR
There are many companies to choose from when it comes to optical equipment and the reason and I went with Zeiss because of their long history of quality products for both Doctors and patients. Having visited Germany and seeing for myself how the equipment is produced with such care and state- of- the art technology, I knew that when purchasing Zeiss equipment I would not be disappointed in accuracy and care.
Additionally when purchased, Zeiss will send the equipment to your office and schedule a day or two to have them install and also train you and your staff on the ins and outs of equipment function and integration. This was huge for me and my office because when we changed to EHR, it was so hard not to have in- person training. I remember pulling my hair out and actually shedding a few tears when it came to self- teaching how to use the new EHR system. With Zeiss, we did not have close the office, the Zeiss representative worked at night to install and met us all the next morning before open for training. How sweet is that!? The process was so seamless and wonderful. The representative even helped to remove the previous equipment for us.
Lastly, because technology can be both friend and foe, having access to Zeiss customer service during our business hours has helped with trouble shooting problems. You get to talk to actual people who are trained and experience to help with any technical problems. The great thing is that they are also able to access your computer and change/fix things thru there too. I have had less headaches and frustration knowing I have a team I can trust to help me when technology gets glitchy.
It’s been seven months since we started using our new Zeiss system and I couldn’t be happier. The positive response from patients has been overwhelming and it has distinguished our office as a modern, high- end facility in the community. Next up, a new Zeiss slit lamp with camera… to be continued…..
